Sunday July 28th was so much fun! Our outside worship and picnic were wonderful – thanks to all of you. Everyone participated as they could: young kids and us not so young setting up and taking down, bringing the great variety of delicious food, and participating in worship.  That day demonstrated in real time the joy found in the living Christ. People were gathered to worship the God who loves us and demonstrated God’s love in so many ways.

Without a lot of direction, just an invitation to help, everything came together. Shade tents and tables ended up in exactly the right location.  There was a good variety of picnic food to go with those amazing hot-dogs, more than enough fizzy waters, desserts and even two kinds of banana pudding. People shared tables and strangers became friends. The children helped with my sermon and demonstrated God’s generosity and the joy of sharing as they gave out bags of crackers. And the music made the former Baptists among us very happy!

A neighbor of mine from Southern California came and was warmly welcomed into conversation and to join a table for lunch. She had a wonderful time – thank you all so much. As I moved from table to table I was invited into conversation, some great story telling and lots of laughter. Our day of celebration was a wonderful time, full of friends, good food, laughter and worship…. Thanks to all of you being there!

A bit of tradition about our name’s sake:

Saint Anne is known as the mother of Mary and as Jesus’ grandmother. She is not mentioned in Scripture, but she is part of our Christian tradition. The Feast Day of St. Anne is July 26, and we celebrate her every year at our annual picnic.
